Vincent Faudemer is an artist from Normandy in France, he is known to have appropriated one of the symbols of childhood, the character of Babar as the main subject. Reworking him in sculpture with a treatment based on silvering, he met from the first year of his exhibition, a spectacular craze, many French and American celebrities were seduced by his work. First exhibition in September 2018 at the world-famous Palace Plaza Athénée, First auction in Monaco on September 26, 2018 for a charity gala, Prince Albert 2 of Monaco Foundation. Living and working between Normandy and Miami, Vincent Faudemer subverts the image of the famous elephant to launch a reflection on the society of consumption and excessive capitalism. He dresses his Babolex character in a premium luxury item and brand as if to reflect a consumer habit of affluent world society, the artist's choice of the elephant is heavy with meaning, pillar of Africa, wisdom and Knowing in beliefs, divinities for many civilizations, Babolex perfectly embodies the opposition between purity and childhood, against the transition to adulthood and the change of values.
He regularly cites Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami and Jean Michel Basquiat as a source of inspiration.
